Guidelines For Jamaican Canadian Association
Alberta
Scholarship Program
One
of the mandates we (JCAA) have set ourselves is to foster Education for
all of our members, especially our youth. We embrace other members of our
community who are not paid members but are Jamaicans or descendants of
Jamaicans, especially those who volunteer at our activities.
We
realize, however, that funds are limited and we do not have enough to help
everyone or to be as generous to those we help as we would like. The
following are therefore guidelines for our Scholarship Program.
In all circumstances, we will give priority to the level of need
assessed.
-
First and foremost we cater to our members on two levels: active
(priority) and inactive.
-
Then we look at our volunteers who are not members but who always help
with our functions.
-
Finally, we look at other applicants from the community who do not fit
the above categories.
The
amount that applicants are awarded will depend on the number of people who
apply, the number who are successful and the amount we have in the casino
fund. The latter depends on how often we are awarded casinos.
We
wish you the best in your educational pursuits whether or not we were able
to help you.
